Philipsburg woman injured in crash

From CDT staff reportsSeptember 20, 2013

A Philipsburg woman was injured Tuesday afternoon when the car she was driving collided with another car at the intersection of Railroad Street and E. Pine St. in Philipsburg, according to state troopers in Philipsburg.

Police say Melanie D. Curtorillo, 56, was taken by Moshannon EMS to Mount Nittany Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries.

The occupants of the second car, driver Megan R. Gormont, 28, and her 6-year-old child, both were uninjured in the 5 p.m. crash, police said.

The accident occurred when Curtorillo drove her 2004 Chrysler Sebring into the intersection while the stoplight was red, police said, striking Gormont’s 1998 Dodge Intrepid. Each of the cars spun upon impact, and Curtorillo’s car continued through the intersection, finally resting on a fence at a nearby business, police said.

Curtorillo was charged with failing to stop at a steady red signal.
