Boys’ soccer: Grace Prep tops unbeaten foe

September 24, 2013

— Alex Zubler’s goal capped a frantic final 10 minutes as Grace Prep knocked off previously unbeaten Northumberland County Christian 2-1 on Monday.

The game was scoreless until Northumberland’s Tyler Napp scored at the 73:29 mark. The Storm (5-3) tied it as Joshua Mikhail scored off a pass from Luke Snider three minutes later. A little more than a minute after that, Elijah Rittenhouse was fouled and Zubler booted in the ensuing direct kick from 30 yards out, nailing it just under the crossbar.

“It was extremely competive up through 70th minute.” said Storm coach Daryl Hoffman, whose team dropped Northumberland to 11-1. “We came back against a previously unbeaten team.”

Grace Prep keeper Jeremy Thompson stopped eight shots.
