Letter to the editor | Know the issues

September 27, 2013

On Nov. 5, voters in Penns Valley will decide who will represent the community on the school board and who will make decisions that will affect our children.

It is difficult to overstate the importance of this election. It is imperative that every voter cast a vote with a clear understanding of the facts.

This election is not about the Ram Community Center. That issue is in the past and the RCC will not come before the school board in the future. All permit applications for that project were withdrawn and it is no longer viable.

The Penns Valley school district is the top performing district in Centre County and has the lowest per-student expenditures.

Some candidates are calling for “change.”

Recognizing the importance of this election, the Centre Hall Businessmen and Farmers Association is sponsoring a candidates forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the high school auditorium. I encourage all voters to attend.

We all have a responsibility to understand what change is being proposed and how it would affect our schools and our children.
