Penn State women’s soccer: Nittany Lions dominate Boilermakers

— No. 8 Penn State dominated Purdue from start to finish Thursday night at Jeffrey Field, walking away with a 6-1 victory.

The Nittany Lions held possession most of the night, with a 24-1 disparity in shots, a 12-1 advantage in shots on goal and an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.

Maya Hayes and Raquel Rodriguez each had a goal and an assist to lead the Nittany Lions (8-1-1, 2-0 Big Ten). Kori Chapic, Tani Costa and Kindrah Kohne also netted goals, and a Costa attempt was redirected into the net by a Boilermaker defender for an own goal. Jordan Pawlik, Alex Hairston and Emily Hurd all earned assists.

Britt Eckerstrom and Meghan Kaminski combined for the time in the Nittany Lion net, allowing only a Maddy Williams score 13 seconds before halftime.

Penn State will host Indiana on Sunday.
