From CDT staff reportsSeptember 30, 2013

A group of Penn State experts have launched a website to provide resources to people who will use the health insurance marketplace created under the federal Affordable Care Act.

The website,, was developed by Penn State Extension specialists so that people in Pennsylvania can research the policies before they enroll, said Cathy Bowen, a consumer issues professor in the College of Agricultural Sciences.

Bowen said the website provides consolidated information in a “no-frills format.”

The open enrollment period in the health insurance marketplace starts Tuesday and will go through March 31. Coverage will begin as early Jan. 1.
