Boys soccer: Penns Valley turns back Huntingdon

October 1, 2013

— Penns Valley built a halftime lead, then hung on to drop Huntingdon 3-2 Monday afternoon.

Seth Cooke and Bryan Wasson netted first-half goals for the Rams (4-8, 3-5 Mountain League). Following a Devon Green goal for the Bearcats, Frank Randazzo gave Penns Valley a two-goal lead again. Green scored again for Huntingdon, but the team never got the equalizer.

“We had plenty of opportunities at the end but nothing went in,” said Rams coach Scott Case, who singled out midfielder Trevor Heckman’s play as one of the keys to victory. “It was a really nice victory for us. It helps us in the standings since we essentially had the same record coming in.”

Tiger Welch, who assisted on the opening goal, made seven saves in the win.
