Ferguson Township to host open house on Pine Grove Mountain project

From CDT staff reportsOctober 1, 2013

Ferguson Township officials are seeking input from residents and those who travel state Route 26 about a proposed Pine Grove Mountain runaway truck ramp.

The ramp would be the second such facility on the mountain and would be near East Chestnut Street. The proposal came from an overall state Department of Transportation study related to safety improvements on the mountain, but no funding has been allocated for the project’s construction.

Plans for safety improvements began after a truck lost its brakes coming down the mountain in June 2006, plowing through a commercial garage and killing one man.

The township will hold an open house to gather input from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the township municipal building, 3147 Research Drive. PennDOT representatives will dispaly preliminary engineering drawingsd and discuss the project.

They also will present the project during the regular Board of Supervisors meeting, which follows at 7 p.m.
