Girls’ tennis: Lady Little Lions cruise to win

October 2, 2013

— State College didn’t lose a single match as it defeated Mercersburg 7-0 on Tuesday in a college format.

“This was a really nice way to end our regular season,” Lady Little Lions coach Jane Borden said. “With the format change, we were able to get a few more players into the varsity lineup and they all found ways to win. The girls should enjoy this win tonight, but then tomorrow we need to refocus and get ready for the rest of the season.”

The format was doubles played first, with winners of 2 of 3 matches earning one point and each singles match worth a point.

Cathy Badding, Juliette Greer, Amy Poissant, Cassie Walter, Callan Glover and Tatum Stauffer all swept the singles matches for State College, which finished its regular season at 15-1.

The teams of Badding-Greer, Caitlin McGlaughlin-Stauffer and Caroline Whitman-Walter swept the doubles for State College.
