SPRING MILLS — Bellefonte scored a pair of second-half goals, including the game-winner with 3:19 left in regulation, for a 2-1 win over Penns Valley on Tuesday night.
Madisen Paige netted the winner, her ninth goal of the season, to complete the rally. Morgan Brooks, and assisted on the winner, had the other score for the Lady Red Raiders (8-4). Courtney Lair helped on the first goal.
“The girls have raised their level of play and this was an exciting game (until) the very end,” Penns Valley coach Jeff Smucker said. “After scoring first, we had many chances to add to our score but couldn't quite finish our opportunities. The Bellefonte keeper did a good job of coming out and covering a couple of breakaways and Bellefonte's Morgan Brooks made the difference the last 15 minutes of the game.”
Marcy Smucker, with an assist from Hailee Wingard, had put the Lady Rams in front with a first-half goal. Nicole Peggs made three saves in the win, while Kylie Orndorf stopped eight shots for the Rams.
