PHILIPSBURG — Bellefonte’s Grant Stone used his head to give the Red Raiders a 2-1 win over Philipsburg-Osceola at Memorial Field on Thursday night.
Andrew Stover, who scored the night’s first goal, delivered a long throw-in that found Stone’s head to beat P-O keeper Mitch Winters with two minutes left in the first half.
“We scored both goals that way,” Raiders coach Scott Martz said. “It worked the first time so we said let’s do it again.”
The first goal came in the second minute, and P-O’s Hunter Honan responded two minutes later from Nate Araway’s free kick to tie the game.
Backup keeper Jacob Mann made six saves for the Raiders (7-4-1) while Winters stopped seven shots for the Mounties (2-6-1).
