Saint Joseph’s (2-3) at Chestnut Ridge (3-2)
Coaches: SJ—Dave Carson. CR—Max Shoemaker
Last meeting: First meeting
Key players: SJ— RB Kahsim Buey; CR— Matt Wiley RB
The skinny: For the third straight week Chestnut Ridge is playing a team from Centre County and the Lions certainly have enjoyed the results from the first two.
Chestnut Ridge has beaten Bald Eagle Area 23-10 and Philipsburg-Osceola 24-7.
Running back Matt Wiley certainly has enjoyed the past two weeks. He rushed for 176 yards and two scores on 19 carries against the Eagles and had 126 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries against the Mounties. His three scores against P-O (38, 59 and 13 yards) all came in the final five minutes to rally the Lions from a 7-3 deficit.
Chestnut Ridge should provide Saint Joseph’s a pretty good measuring stick.
The Wolves snapped a three-game skid with a 44-12 romp against Elk County Catholic last week.
The Chestnut Ridge defense, which has been very good the past two weeks, will look to stop St. Joseph’s Kahsim Buey, who rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries last week.
Wolves quarterback Phil Fenstermacker completed 5 of 11 passes for 104 yards, with two scoring strikes.
