Penn State men’s soccer: Nittany Lion keeper honored

— Following a shutout of the defending national champions, Penn State goalkeeper Andrew Wolverton was named Big Ten Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The junior made five saves in a 2-0 win over Indiana, including stopping a second-half penalty kick and a save on a point-blank shot at the end of teh first half to preserve Penn State’s first win at Indiana since 2005 and the first ever by shutout at Armstrong Stadium.

Wolverton has posted five shutouts this season and 20 for his career.

The Nittany Lions (7-3-1, 2-0 Big Ten) host Michigan on Friday.
