Girls volleyball: Philipsburg Osceola thumps Central Mountain

October 8, 2013

— With a showdown against Bald Eagle Area looming, Philipsburg-Osceola prepped for its rival with a 25-15, 25-10, 25-13 victory over Central Mountain on Monday.

The Lady Mounties were paced by Kylie Scovern’s 11 kills, Marlee Chutko’s seven kills and four blocks, Elizabeth Robertson’s nine digs and McKenzie Burge’s 23 assists and three aces.

P-O coach Dave Eckberg was glad his team was not caught looking ahead by the Wildcats on Monday.

“It wasn’t one of our cleanest performances with serving and passing,” Eckberg said. “But we got the job done and I hope they are ready for (Tuesday).”

The Lady Mounties (18-3, 8-1) will host the Lady Eagles on Tuesday night. The Lady Mounties lead the Mountain League by one game over BEA and 1 1/2 games over Penns Valley. The Lady Eagles won the first meeting between the rivals last month.
