Girls golf: State College leads District 6 tourney

— State College grabbed the team lead over Bellefonte after the opening round of the Distict 6 Class AAA Championships on Wednesday at the Penn State White Course.

The Lady Little Lions totaled 371 strokes, 20 better than Bellefonte and 60 better than Hollidaysburg, heading into Thursday’s second day of play.

State College’s Karli Nolan and Natalie Faulds each shot 89 and are tied for fourth place. Ashley Stewart (94) and Aubrey Swanson (97) rounded out the scoring for the Lady Little Lions.

Bellefonte’s Kaitlyn Vogel is second after an 84. She trails Bishop McCort’s Kayla Orr by three shots. Emily Sinclair (92), Kady Stodter (101) and Ashley Morris (114) rounded out the scoring for the Lady Raiders.

As an individual, Philipsburg-Osceola’s Haylee Hayward shot 110.
