Boys cross country: State College whips Altoona

October 10, 2013

— In a matchup of basically JV teams, State College’s depth proved too much for Altoona as the Little Lions cruised to a 17-46 win.

With the Mid Penn Championships looming Saturday, State College sat out its usual lineup and Altoona did the same.

Phil Clauer led a pack of State College runners across the line with a time of 17:41. Kyle Sutherland (17:47) and Anthony Degleris (17:47) were second and third, respectively, as the Little Lions took eight of the top 10 spots.

“That was a nice indicator of what kind of depth the team has,” State College coach Dave Felice said. “We had a 17-second spread from No. 1 to No. 5 and all five runners we under 18 minutes.”
