Bald Eagle State Park remains open during government shutdown

From CDT staff reportsOctober 11, 2013

— Because Bald Eagle State Park is not operated by federal employees, the recreation area remains open during the government shutdown.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced that Bald Eagle and other similar parks would remain open, while some schedule changes will impact closing dates of other parks.

Seven Points Campground at Raystown Lake, for example, will close on Monday for the season. That’s earlier than planned to allow for winterization during the government shutdown. Funding remains uncertain for the rest of 2013.

Lake Raystown Resort and Seven Points Marina will remain open, Army Corps officials said.

Winterizing of parks includes draining water pipes that lead to bathroom facilities. Visitors with paid reservations that were canceled due to the early closure will be refunded.
