Girls tennis: State College pair falls in district doubles

— State College’s Cathy Badding and Juliette Greer advanced to the semifinals, but were upset in the District 6 Class AAA doubles tournament on Friday.

The top-seeded Badding and Greer rolled past Mifflin County’s Kate Hugendubler and Jessa Wright 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.

The tables were turned in the semifnals against third-seeded Alyssa Pheasant and Sierra Cobler, who blanked the State College duo 6-0, 6-0.

State College’s Caitlin McGlaughlin and Elizabeth Easterling fell 6-1, 6-2 to Hollidaysburg’s Maisie Supp and Elyse Smilnak in the quarterfinals.

Pheasant and Cobler face Altoona’s Lauren Lucas and Emilee Hollingsworth, the second seeds, in Saturday’s title match.
