Our View | Thumbs for Saturday

October 12, 2013

Thumbs up: To former professional hockey player Sheldon Kennedy, for his courage in sharing his story of being sexually abused by a youth coach years ago. The 10-year NHL veteran was at Penn State on Thursday, helping raise awareness of child sexual abuse and its lasting effects on victims.

Thumbs up: To State College police, who are using Twitter messages to help reunite lost or stolen bicycles with their owners. We applaud police, who have hundreds of bikes in storage, for reaching out through modern communications channels including @ReclaimYourBike.

Thumbs down: To Congress, still, for the utter failure to make any progress toward ending the shutdown and addressing the debt ceiling. Please do your jobs.
