From CDT staff reportsOctober 15, 2013

— Penn State’s Katie Slay and Micha Hancock each picked up weekly awards from the Big Ten on Monday when the conference handed out its weekly honors.

Slay was named Big Ten Player of the Week while Hancock was tabbed the Setter of the Week as the duo helped the No. 4 Nittany Lions beat No. 10 Minnesota and No. 15 Wisconsin last week.

Slay had 14 kills and 10 blocks for her first career double-double in the win over the Golden Gophers, posting her 500th career block in the process, and added six kills and eight blocks in beating the Badgers. It was her eighth career weekly conference honor but her first Player of the Week award.

Hancock racked up 100 assists, 12 digs and a block in the wins for her 12th career weekly honor.

The Nittany Lions visit Illinois and Northwestern on Friday and Sunday.
