Boys soccer: Philipsburg-Osceola Mounties slay Central Dragons

October 16, 2013

— The Philipsburg-Osceola win streak in the Mountain League reached five games — and the Mounties are eligible for the District 6 playoffs — thanks to a 3-2 win over Central on Tuesday.

The game was the last for P-O (7-7-1, 7-5-1 Mountain League) to reach enough wins to be eligible for the Class AA bracket. Wednesday is the final day games count toward qualifying.

“Our boys seem to be scoring now and things are falling that weren’t falling earlier,” P-O coach Shawn Inlow said. “It looks like things are coming around.

Austin Krise, Hunter Honan and Wyatt Inlow netted the Mounties’ goals, with Alvaro Sanz picking up an assist and Mitch Winters making seven saves in goal.

Antonio Eskinja and Ben Smith scored for the Scarlet Dragons.
