Boys soccer: Wasson gives Penns Valley win over Clearfield

From CDT staff reportsOctober 16, 2013

— Bryan Wasson had the only goal of the second half, delivering the game-winner in a 2-1 victory over Clearfield on Tuesday.

Taking advantage of some wet grass, Wasson hit a soft shot from long range that skipped past Bison keeper Keith Biancuzzo 2:34 into the second half.

Seth Cooke scored with help from Gino Nicosia for Penns Valley (6-11, 5-9 Mountain League) while Jack Soult scored for Clearfield on Senior Night as the Rams avenged a tough loss earlier in the season.

“Our seven seniors played a great match,” coach Scott Case said. “They stepped to the ball, they worked. It was a big, physical match and they won it in the end. We were on them like brown on toast.”

Tiger Welch made six saves in the Ram goal.
