The former Rockview state prison inmate accused of raping a female clerk at the facility now faces possible trial on the charges.
Omar Best was back in Centre County briefly Wednesday and waived his right to a preliminary hearing in the case.
Best was transported from a state prison in Huntingdon County, where he was reassigned after the brutal attack.
He is accused of cornering the woman in her office, choking her unconscious and raping her before leaving her for dead.
Best was alone with the woman for 27 minutes, security footage shows.
Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller said she is reviewing whether the state’s three strikes law would apply to Best if convicted.
He is in prison on rape and robbery charges, and has a history of convictions dating back to the 1990s, court records show.
