Smoke school in session

October 17, 2013

Smoke is blown out of a stack for participants to read on Wednesday. Penn State’s Visible Emissions Training Program, also known as Smoke School, offers opacity training for people who want to become certified “smoke readers.” Participants in the school, which is held at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, are trained to visually read the opacity of industrial plumes and conduct tests in accordance with EPA Method 9.
