Rams rally past Eagles

Andrew Deardorff scored two goals — including the game-winner — and assisted on another as Penns Valley rallied with four second-half goals to stun Tyrone 4-3 Thursday afternoon, knocking the Eagles out of first place in the Mountain League.

Deardorff netted the winner with 1:56 left, ripping a shot from 30 yards out that ricochetted off a Tyrone defender and into the net.

Zachary Friday scored twice from Alex Bartlett and Bobby Dawson added the other goal to give the Eagles the 3-0 halftime lead.

The Rams raced back to tie the game over a span of just over eight minutes, with Deardorff’s corner kick finding the head of Seth Cooke, Gino Nicosia setting up Dalton Ulmanic and Frankie Randazzo assisting Deardorff to tie the game with 22:02 left.

“You don’t see that very often,” Rams coach Scott Case said. “To be down 3-0 — solidly down — and to make that run back. It was a cool way to end the regular season.”

Penns Valley will learn on Friday who, when and where it will play in the District 6 playoffs.
