Letter to the editor | Praise for emergency responders

October 18, 2013

In late August, when my grandson managed to get his head wedged between the slats on the back of a chair, I had to call 911.

Within minutes, I had the police, Centre LifeLink and Alpha Fire Company in my house. These caring professionals kept the child calmed down as they took the chair apart and released his head. After checking him for injuries, they even reassembled the chair.

We are so fortunate to live in an area where these services are available and the first responders respond so quickly.

The crews are crucial in handling emergencies, and I urge everyone to be supportive of their needs. You never know when you’ll need them, but they’ll be there when you do.
