Penn State men’s hockey: Air Force’s three third-period goals drop Nittany Lions

October 21, 2013

— Penn State gave up three third-period goals in a 3-1 loss at Air Force late Saturday night.

Freshman Ricky DeRosa scored the lone Nittany Lion goal in his first collegiate game, while Matthew Skoff stopped 32 shots in the loss.

Jason Torf made 33 saves for the Falcons (2-2), with George Michalke netting a pair of goals, including one shorthanded, and Cole Gunner adding the other score.

Luke Juha and Tommy Olczyk set up DeRosa on the goal, as the freshman skated around the net and tried to make a feed to a teammate, but the puck bounced off a Falcon defenseman’s skate into the net. Skoff had been pulled for an extra attacker on the goal with 2:46 left.

Penn State (1-2) returns to Pegula Ice Arena to host Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday.
