Penn State men’s golf: Lions sit third at Georgetown tourney

— With two golfers in the top 15 and two more in the top 30, Penn State is holding onto a third-place spot at the Georgetown Intercollegiate after the opening two rounds Monday.

The Nittany Lions posted team totals of 18-over 295-292—586 at the Members Club at Four Streams. Penn State trails leader Alabama-Birmingham by 26 strokes.

JD Dornes leads the Nittany Lions with his even-par 73-69—142 to tie for seventh. His second-round score was a career low.

He is followed by Xander McDonald-Smith (tie-13, 145), Jens Talbert and Christian Elliott (tie-30, 150) and Chris Houston (tie-59, 158).

The final round will be played Tuesday.
