Penn State women’s soccer: Hayes grabs weekly honor

October 22, 2013

— Penn State’s Maya Hayes was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The senior forward scored twice against Ohio State and once against Illinois in a pair of wins at Jeffrey Field. She shares the weekly award with Michigan’s Nkem Ezurike.

Hayes now has 16 goals, five assists and a Big Ten-leading 37 points this seasons, and her 68 career goals and 156 career points lead all active women in NCAA Division I.

The Nittany Lions visit Iowa on Friday and Nebraska on Sunday, and will need to win both while Michigan either ties or loses one game to extend their run of consecutive Big Ten titles to 16 straight seasons.
