PHILIPSBURG — Philipsburg has a new council member. Again.
Last month, council appointed Michael Foreman to fill the seat vacated by Walt Chorle’s resignation. However, Foreman ultimately did not accept the position, leaving the borough without a full council for another month.
On Monday, council reviewed the other three applicants for the seat and appointed Wanda MacDonald.
MacDonald will fill the seat until the end of December. However, the timing will create a curious twist.
The former borough code enforcement officer is also on the ballot for the seat of David Dixon, who is not running for re-election. Should she win that seat, she will serve one position until Dec. 31 and then assume the other on Jan. 1. That will still leave the Chorle position in flux, the reason some council members gave last month for passing her over in favor of Foreman.
President Fred Grauch said the Chorle seat will be on the ballot next month, and that he believes they have already been appointed by the Republican and Democratic party chairs in Centre County.
