Man faces possible trial for early-morning attacks, robbery

From CDT staff reportsOctober 23, 2013

A Penn State Harrisburg student now faces possible trial in Centre County on charges he grabbed and violently assaulted two women Oct. 13 in State College.

Charges against Claudius Taylor, 19, were bound over for trial Wednesday at a preliminary hearing in Centre County Court.

Police have accused Taylor of approaching a woman early Sunday near Foster Avenue, groping her and trying to pull her into a yard and out of public view. When she resisted, Taylor stole her cell phone and fled.

He approached a second woman a short distance away, punched her repeatedly in the head before knocking her to the ground and pinning her there, police alleged.

Officers responding to the second woman’s cries for help arrested Taylor after a brief foot chase.

Taylor faces two felony robbery counts and seven misdemeanor charges, including indecent assault and false imprisonment. He remains in the Centre County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail.
