Girls soccer: Bellefonte outlasts Forest Hills, advances in District 6 Class AA playoffs

— Kate Womer ended a long scoreless drought and extended Bellefonte’s season with a 3-2 double overtime triumph over Forest Hills in the District 6 Class AA girls’ soccer playoffs on Wednesday night.

The contest had been tied since the 57:48 mark before Womer finally scored at 105:22 to propel the fourth-seeded Lady Red Raiders (13-5) into the semifnals against the winner of No. 8 Tyrone and top-seeded Somerset on Tuesday at a site to-be-determined.

Madisen Paige gave Bellefonte a quick 1-0 lead, scoring five minutes into the contest on an assist from Morgan Brooks. Forest Hills got even before the half on a score by Alyssa Peretin.

Morgan, on an assist from Paige, put the Lady Raiders ahead with a goal 1:24 into the second half. Forest Hills’ Kim Boyd tied it with a penalty kick a little more than 16 minutes later.

Bellefonte’s Nicole Peggs had nine saves. Madison McDonnell had seven saves for Forest Hills.
