From CDT staff reportsOctober 24, 2013

— Mifflin County scored early and late to knock off State College in the District 6 Class AAA field hockey championship.

Katelyn Cramer opened the scoring just two minutes into the contest to give the Lady Huskies a 1-0 lead.

The match would remain that way until three minutes remaining as Anne Harshbarger scored an insurance goal.

Mifflin County held a 7-4 edge in shots and a 5-4 margin in penalty corners.

Megan McCarthy had five saves for the Lady Little Lions, who had defeated Mifflin County 2-1 in overtime on Oct. 9 and lost to the Lady Huskies 2-0 on Sept. 18. Jordan Myers notched three saves for the Lady Huskies, who avenged a 2-1 loss to State College in last season’s district title game.

Mifflin County (8-9-1) advances to a PIAA play-in game against the WPIAL champion at 6 p.m., Oct. 31 at North Allegheny High School.

State College finishes its season 9-10.
