High school football preview: Calvary Christian Academy at St. Joseph’s

October 25, 2013

Calvary Christian (1-5)

at St. Joseph’s (3-5)

Time: 7 p.m.

Coaches: CCA— Mike Reichenbach; St. Joseph’s— Dave Carson

Last meeting: First meeting

Key players to watch: CCA— Josh Tate, RB; St. Joseph’s— Mike Jabco, WR

The skinny: St. Joseph’s has a shot at finishing .500 in its first football season and on paper it looks like the Wolves have an opponent that could fit into that agenda.

Calvary Christian Academy has struggled and even has a forfeit on its schedule. After a rainout two weeks ago, the school forfeited a Saturday game, citing a safety concern for its running backs.

CCA, which forfeited its entire 2012 season, did play last week, falling 22-13 to George School. Running back Joshua Tate had 77 yards on 17 carries and scored a touchdown. Quarterback Josh Reichenbach was 4 of 13 with two interceptions.

St. Joseph’s whipped Allegheny-Clarion Valley 28-7 last week. Phil Fenstermacker tossed a pair of touchdowns to Mike Jabco and Kahsim Buey pushed his season total past 800 yards with a 132-yard effort.
