State College - Centre Daily TimesOctober 25, 2013

— Four different players scored for Westmont Hilltop as the Hilltoppers eliminated Penns Valley in the District 6 Class A boys’ soccer playoffs on Thursday.

The game was scoreless until Westmont Hilltop broke through with three goals in an 11-minute stretch. Lewie Buchovich opened the scoring at the 17-minute mark. Logan Blackburn and Sam Whitlow added goals as the Hilltoppers (14-3-1) took a 3-0 halftime lead.

Grant Gagnon did all of the scoring in the second half, scoring in the 47th hand 57th minutes.

Despite the loss, keeper Tiger Welch had an excellent game for the Rams, who finished the season 7-12.

“The amazing thing about Tiger is that he’s our third-string keeper,” Penns Valley coach Scott Case, told the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat. “After we lost our first- and second string keeper during the season, he took over with seven games to go and improved an amazing amount in those games.”

Westmont Hilltop faces Bishop McCort on Tuesday.
