Quaker Steak & Lube at 501 Benner Pike had its grand opening Wednesday afternoon.
Spokeswoman Amanda Lucas said the restaurant chain is back in the State College area based on the results of a poll on Facebook.
A Quaker Steak restaurant closed its doors in 2008 at the current site of Otto’s Pub in Patton Township, but reopened on Benner Pike under new management by the Druzak Merchant Development Group.
General Manager Craig Brennan said the restaurant employs about 150 people.
The restaurant is open Sunday to Thursday 11 a.m. to midnight, and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
PA CareerLink to host job fair
The PA CareerLink of Centre County will be having a Job Fair 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday at the South Hills School of Business & Technology, 480 Waupelani Drive.
The event is open to the public with more than 35 employers attending, said Josh Fuller, business service representative for PA CareerLink of Centre County.
KCF Technologies to co-host workshop with PSU
On Wednesday, KCF Technologies of State College will co-host an Association of the Physical Plant Administrators Drive-In Workshop with Penn State.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Founder’s Lounge in the Bryce Jordan Center.
Topics will include how to improve fiscal spending, wireless vibration-monitoring deployment for campus-wide assets, and the whys and hows of knowledge and skills retention.
According to Christopher T. Shannon, marking analyst and graphic artist at KCF Technologies, those who work on the industrial heating, ventilation and air-condition systems are encouraged to attend.

Happy Valley Brewing Co. opening soon
Happy Valley Brewing Co. should be opening this week, staff at the Lemont restaurant said Friday.
A specific day is unknown, and staff are in training.
The brew house, 137 Elmwood St., Lemont, is owned by Scott Lucchesi and business partner Greg Somers.
