UNIVERSITY PARK — Eight matches against top-15 teams from last season and 13 home dates highlight Penn State’s 2014 schedule.
The slate includes contests against No. 3 Long Beach State, No. 4 UCLA, No. 9 Loyola-Chicago, No. 10 Lewis, No. 11 Ball State, No. 13 Hawaii, No. 14 Cal State Northridge and No. 15 Ohio State.
The season opens in Hawaii for the Outrigger Invitational, with UCLA (Jan. 9), host Hawaii (Jan. 10) and Ohio State (Jan. 11).
The home opener is Jan. 17 against IPFW, with Ball State (Jan. 18) to follow. Penn State then hosts nine straight home matches with Mount Olive (Jan. 31), St. Francis (Feb. 1), Ohio State (Feb. 5), Erskine (Feb. 7), Pfeiffer (Feb 8), NJIT (Feb 14), Rutgers-Newark (Feb. 15), Sacred Heart (Feb. 21) and Harvard (Feb. 22). Princeton (March 28) and George Mason (March 29) visit later in the season.
Other road trips include Rutgers-Newark (Jan. 25), NJIT (Jan. 25), Princeton (Feb. 28), George Mason (March 1), Ohio State (March 7), Cal State-Northridge (March 14), Long Beach State (March 15), Loyola-Chicago (March 21), Lewis (March 22), Harvard (April 4), Sacred Heart (April 5) and St. Francis (April 12).
The EIVA championships will be held April 17-19, with the national championship weekend set for May 1-3 following a play-in match for the tournament April 26.
