Letter to the editor | Madrid has community pride

October 29, 2013

Others have written letters endorsing Ron Madrid for mayor based on his service to our country as a Marine officer, his work at ARL and his contributions to the State College Historic Resources and Planning commissions.

We agree that the leadership and dedication Madrid has demonstrated in these roles make him well qualified to serve as mayor of State College.

As neighbors of the Madrids, we would also like to highlight the excellent job he has done serving as president of the Holmes-Foster Neighborhood Association.

His volunteer leadership of this group has brought the families and individuals living in our neighborhood closer together and has helped foster a strong sense of community pride.

The Borough of State College could benefit from Madrid’s personal investment in promoting neighborliness and focus on strengthening the social fabric of our community.

We encourage all voters, Democrat and Republican, to vote for Ron Madrid for mayor of State College on Nov. 5.
