Letter to the editor | Zoning at issue

November 2, 2013

Based on newspaper articles, I know that a new Benner Township supervisor was elected two years ago vowing to soften local zoning. Soon it was announced that the longtime appointed zoning officer had been terminated — resulting in a case in federal court.

How much Benner paid to settle that case did not seem to come across in the newspaper.

John Elnitski is the one supervisor who strongly supports zoning, and he is running for re-election.

Now, once again, we have a new supervisor candidate running on a platform of reducing zoning. If he is elected, making a management team with two out of the three who clearly dislike zoning, would this mean that Benner will soon have no zoning at all?
