Penn State women’s hockey: Robert Morris whips Nittany Lions

— Penn State goaltender Celine Whitlinger couldn’t save them all.

Whitlinger had 43 saves, but Robert Morris peppered her with 49 shots as the Colonials blanked Penn State 6-0 in women’s hockey action on Friday at the Pegula Ice Arena.

Robert Morris (8-2-0) scored twice in each period. Kristen Richards scored twice and Brittany Howard notched three assists for the Colonials. Anissa Gamble, Thea Imbrogno, Rebecca Vint and Ashley Vesci also scored.

Shannon Yoxheimer and Taylor Gross each had six of Penn State’s 22 shots.

The Nittany Lions next face Syracuse on Nov. 9 at Pegula.
