With four candidates running for four spots, the race for State College Area school board is uncontested.

In the middle of a massive high school project, there will not be much turnover on the board with three incumbents taking up the spots. A challenger will take the place of board member Gowen Roper, who is not seeking re-election.

All four candidates cross-filed and won the nominations for both parties.

•  President Penni Fishbaine is seeking another term to provide consistency on the board. She wants to continue to have a hand in the decision-making of the high school project and other issues. Fishbaine serves as marketing director and vice president of the dental practice of her husband, Steven Fishbaine.

•  Scott Fozard, the lone challenger in the race, is looking to use his business background to help the board move in the right direction financially moving forward. He is the chief financial officer at Salimetrics.

•  David Hutchinson is running for a fourth time after serving 10 years on the board. He wants to use that experience to work toward district solutions to adjusting to the changing climate of education. Hutchinson works at Penn State as a classroom audio/video technician.

Jim Leous is finishing up his first term and is excited at the opportunity for a second. With his background in technology, he said he can provide that expertise when any technology questions are raised. Leous works in the Penn State College of Information Sciences and Technology in the Emerging Technologies Group.
