Letter to the editor | Learn about candidates

November 4, 2013

Voting is a right and responsibility that should not be taken lightly. And while statewide and national elections receive a tremendous amount of media attention, the elections likely to affect our daily lives most directly are those for local municipal offices and boards of school directors.

C-NET, the local Government and Educational Access Network, produces interviews each election with candidates for local, state and federal office. For Tuesday’s election, interviews were conducted by Anne Danahy and CDT reporter Mike Dawson, with candidates for municipal office in College Township, Ferguson Township, Halfmoon Township, Harris Township, Patton Township, State College and Bellefonte.

Interviews also were conducted with candidates for the State College Area and Bellefonte Area school boards, along with candidates for four district judge seats.

The interviews are available to view online and on-demand at cnet1.org. I encourage all voters to watch the interviews and get to know the candidates before they cast their ballot on Tuesday.
