The lone incumbent and a challenger were victorious Tuesday night in the one contested Bellefonte Council race.

Joe Beigle won another term in Ward 1 with 44.26 percent of the vote, and challenger Barry Spicer won his first term, garnering 33.44 percent, according to unofficial results Tuesday. The other challenger, Sheila Stever, came up short with 21.81 percent.

In total votes, Beigle took 274, Spicer won 207 and Stever received 135. There was a 30.8 percent turnout in the North precinct and a 31.72 percent turnout in the Northeast precinct, according to unofficial results.

Beigle said he is feeling good after winning another term and looking to wrap up some of the projects that the council started under his watch. He specifically mentioned the waterfront revitalization project and the Garman Theatre.

He added he just wants to see the town “moving forward. In whatever way that may be.”
