Our View | Thumbs for Saturday

November 9, 2013

Thumbs up: To Centre County government, for reminding veterans of the opportunity to file their discharge papers at the recorder of deeds office. Filing secures permanent records of the military discharges, which can be necessary for obtaining Veterans Affairs benefits.

Thumbs up: To Philipsburg native Matt Adams, who played in the recent World Series as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. The Boston Red Sox won the Series. But Adams’ hometown will honor the slugger Saturday with a parade through the community.

Thumbs up: To residents of the Huston Township village of Julian, and local elected officials, who made their voices heard concerning a Department of Transportation plan to close a bridge and reroute the main road into that community. It appears the state will instead repair the bridge.
