DUI charges pending after police chase from Ferguson Township

From CDT staff reportsNovember 11, 2013

A Tyrone man is expected to be charged with DUI after he led Ferguson Township police on a sometimes high-speed chase that ended when police stopped following in Blair County near the Bald Eagle intersection.

Police said they know who the 44-year-old man is but did not release his name.

The man was first cited with public drunkenness after he was found asleep around 4 p.m. in a parked car on the 100 block of South Water Street in Pine Grove Mills, police said. Police said the man was released to a family member and his vehicle was towed away.

However, around 6:30 p.m., police found out the man had gotten back his car, and police tried to pull him over while he was driving south on West College Avenue near Science Park Road.

Police said the man did not pull over, and police continued chasing him until the intersection of U.S. Route 220 and state Route 350 near the village of Bald Eagle, Snyder Township. Police said the man would drive as fast as 20 miles more than the speed limit.

No one was injured in the chase, police said.
