A Bellefonte man died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening on state Route 64 between Pleasant Gap and Zion.

Shortly after midnight, Spring Township police confirmed that Donald Trulick, 65, was killed in the collision.

Trulick’s auto and a tractor-trailer were involved in the crash near the Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. quarry at about 5:50 p.m. A section of Route 64/East College Avenue was closed while emergency crews were at the scene.

Police are investigating the crash, which left Trulick’s red sedan badly damaged. The truck was pulling what was described to police as a shingle grinder when it entered Route 64 from a private side road just prior to the collision.

Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers, who was notified of the accident at about 6:15 p.m., said the man’s wife was contacted Thursday evening and other family members were notified.

Sayers said an autopsy to determine the cause of death is scheduled for Friday.

The truck driver, William White, of Arkansas, was uninjured, and police added that they did not think alcohol or speeding were factors in the crash. The investigation is continuing.

The crash was the second fatal traffic accident in the county this week. On Tuesday, Dolores P. Weaver, 79, of Port Matilda, died when a tanker truck collided with her car as she left the parking lot of the Port Matilda Sportsmen’s Club on South Eagle Valley Road.
