Bicyclist injured in crash in State College

One person was taken by helicopter to a hospital Saturday morning after a vehicle-bicycle accident in State College.

State College police Lt. Mark Argiro said a vehicle struck a cyclist near the intersection of Park Avenue and North Atherton Street at 8:26 a.m.

The driver will be charged with a traffic citation, likely a red light violation, Argiro said. The cyclist was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center by ambulance and then by helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

As of Saturday night, Argiro said, the victim was in stable condition. He suffered severe head trauma, Argiro said.
