Penn State women’s volleyball: Slay named Big Ten Defensive Player of Week

— Penn State’s Katie Slay was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after helping the No. 2 Nittany Lions earn a pair of key wins last weekend.

In 3-0 sweeps of No. 11 Minnesota and No. 15 Wisconsin, the senior middle hitter had eight blocks in each match. She also four kils against the Badgers and seven against the Golden Gophers.

She leads the Big Ten and is third in the nation averaging 1.68 blocks per set.

Slay and her fellow seniors will be honored in the final home weekend of the regular season when Penn State (24-2, 15-1) hosts Northwestern and No. 20 Illinois.
