OSCEOLA MILLS, Clearfield County — A 52-year-old Osceola Mills man was found Friday morning after he was reported missing Thursday, state police at Philipsburg said.
James W. Goss, who is wheelchair-dependent, was found in the general vicinity of a stream where police and fire crews had searched for him Thursday night and Friday morning. Police said he was cognizant and answered questions before he was transported to the hospital by Mountain Top Ambulance.
Police said Goss had left his home in his wheelchair Thursday morning and was last seen on an ATV trail 2 miles from his house.
Goss left his home at 9 a.m. without telling his family where he was going, police said. At 2:30 p.m., Goss was seen 2 miles from his home on an ATV trail. A witness who knows Goss asked him if he needed help, to which Goss said no, according to police.
His family reported Goss missing at 5:34 p.m., which led to a ground and helicopter search that included state troopers and Columbia Fire Company members. The search ended late Thursday night unsuccessfully before it resumed Friday morning, police said.
