Commonwealth Court to hear Garman Theatre arguments in December

From CDT staff reportsNovember 24, 2013

The Commonwealth Court has set a date to hear arguments in regard to the demolition of the Garman Theatre.

The parties will convene by teleconference at 10 a.m. Dec. 4, and a judge will hear the Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association’s argument for an injunction to prevent developer Ara Kervandjian from demolishing the theater. The judge also will hear arguments for the Bellefonte Industrial Development Authority’s motion to throw out the injunction request.

Kervandjian owns the building and got permission from the Bellefonte Borough Council to demolish it. He plans to raze it and the next-door Hotel Do De, combining them with the Cadillac Building to create 32 apartment units of workforce housing.
