From CDT staff reportsNovember 25, 2013

A Patton Township man is accused of hitting his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend in the head with a hammer late Sunday in State College, according to court documents.

Dustin Emel, 20, is behind bars and faces two felony counts of aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of simple assault and reckless endangerment.

State College police said Emel hit a man who was getting out of his car around 11 p.m. in a parking lot at 800 Stratford Drive. Police said Emel was wearing a black ski mask and dark clothing.

Police said the alleged attack victim grabbed at the ski mask and recognized the man to be Emel.

Emel fled the area and was later arrested, police said.

The alleged attack victim suffered a cut on his head.

Emel is awaiting a preliminary hearing next week and is being held in the Centre County Correctional Facility on $15,000 straight bail.

This report has been updated to reflect a clarification that Emel is the ex-boyfriend.
